This blog is my journey from late diagnosis, how I navigate the ups and downs of life, and the strategies I use to cope.

I also write about my lifestyle, my life experiences, and raising neurodiversity awareness.

Autism is a spectrum, and it can look different in each person. This is one way autism can present.

10 Reasons to Start Living a Simple Life

What are the benefits of living a simple life?

Reduce Stress

Living a simple life often means letting go of things you don’t need. It makes life less cluttered with fewer distractions. Chronic stress affects your health as it takes its toll on your body as you are constantly being exposed to stress hormones.

Financial Freedom

Minimalism means you don’t have to spend so much time working to earn the money to pay for things you do not need.

More Free Time

Having more free time enables you to have more meaningful relationships. You can prioritise more time doing the things you want to do rather than the things you have to do.

Improved Mental Health

Moving away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life improves mental health. It encourages you to build routines that make life richer with more fulfilment.

Better Physical Health

When your mental health is improved, so is your physical health, giving yourself more time to focus on healthy eating and taking regular exercise.

More Time for Relationships

When you are not rushing around, you have more time for your relationships and to spend more time with your loved ones.

Greater Purpose

When you live a simple life, it gives you purpose as you connect more with your values, passions, and being of service to others, such as helping others, caring for others, and supporting your community.

Better for the Environment

When you own less and buy less, as in mindful living, it is better for the environment. Reusing what you already own reduces waste and your carbon footprint.

Reduces Social Pressure

Focussing on who you are and not comparing yourself to others reduces the pressure of keeping up with everyone else, and you can be who you are supposed to be.

Flexible Lifestyle

Having the freedom to adjust your work to suit your own hours and routines creates time for the things you love and adapt to a pace you choose.

Final Thoughts

10 benefits of living a simple life isn’t always about getting rid of everything, but it is about making more room for living. When you live a simpler life, you will gain more peace, more time and more purpose. How do you feel about living a simpler life?
