ABOUT

My name is Louise. I was diagnosed with autism in my late forties.

This blog is my journey from late diagnosis, how I navigate the ups and downs of life, and the strategies I use to cope.

I also write about my lifestyle, my life experiences, and raising neurodiversity awareness.

Autism is a spectrum, and it can look different in each person. This is one way autism can present.

Embracing Scotland’s Winter Wonderland: Snow and Family Time

It has been a long time that Scotland has had snow this deep. Normally, we have snow for a few days and it is away. However, we have had four days of it, then heavy rain one night, so I thought that was going to be the last of it, but it snowed again last night. I had just got my car out of a snowdrift, but it is now covered again.

It would be nice to get back to work, but my daughter’s school is closed, so I am doing online learning with her for now. Well, I can’t change it and we all have to stay safe.

I remember when I was young; we had terrible winters. The snow was often deep. I remember driving in the country where the snowplough had cleared the roads. There were piles of snow on each side of the road and they were higher than the car. It was like driving through a tunnel.

We have much milder winters now, so when we do have snow, we are never really prepared for it. Despite this, it is really nice to look out at. Here are the views outside my window during the week.

I have enjoyed the extra time with my daughter. We had the Christmas and New Year weeks off, and an extra unexpected week. Despite not being at work, I have caught up with things that I have wanted to do.

I hope you are all enjoying the start of your year.
